 Online Social Studies Textbook

GREAT NEWS! We have an online social studies student textbook. You will need the username and password.

Select Ancient Civiilizations--> select online student edition

When prompted for the username, please enter: DSACCA06 (case sensitive - 06 (is zero six) for grade)

Password (case sensitive): BWpjKN28

It uses Adobe Acrobat (free).

You can view the book online and use the resources, like flash cards, practice quizzes, etc.

You may also enroll in our etusd.org course to view the textbook.

Enrollment keys are: period1ty, period2ty, period4ty (depending on which period)

Note: This should not REPLACE either a textbook or a CD, since it is dependent on the Internet. We are trying to prevent further destruction and loss of our textbooks. If you would like to switch the textbook to a CD, take your textbook to the library (24) and switch it out. If enough students return their books, we can have class books and students will not have to carry them back and forth to school.

·         A 3-ring notebook binder, with dividers (pocket dividers are highly recommended)

·         Ball-point pens (blue, black, and red; erasable preferred)

·         Highlighters (2 colors)

·         Markers, colored pencils, or crayons (optional)

 Wish List Items

Whatever you can donate will be appreciated and used in our classroom.

  • Additional quantities of school supplies (for students unable to obtain them)
  • Xerox paper (white or colored) - we go through a lot with copies and computer use
  • Lysol/Clorox wipes
  • Scotch tape
  • Loose leaf notebook paper
  • One subject spiral notebooks
  • pencils/pens
  • Art supplies (markers, crayons, colored pencils, pencils, erasers,...)
  • Pencil sharpeners (electric or individual)
  • Facial tissues (we go through a lot during cold/flu season and the ones the school supplies have so few, we go through a box in less than a week)
  • Books (new or gently used)
  • Any other donations that you think we can use, even if gently used.
  • Science Lab consumables may be needed, we will notify you as we need them.

**Donations of Lysol/Clorox Wipes and facial tissues (Kleenex) would be appreciated. We've been cleaning our desks at least once a week to get rid of those germs and are going through the cleaning wipes quickly. Our tissue supply is running low as well. The office has some, but students blow through them in a day or two. THANK YOU!

Special thank yous to the following families for their generous donations. It will be shared with the 6th grade.

Julio A. and family : tissues, paper, pencils, wipes, towels

 Emily H. and family: paper

Nathan B. and family: plastic boxes, tissues, wipses, etc.

 Announcements

** Please read through and sign the last two pages of the syllabus. Return it to your period 4 teacher. If you do not have one, please print one out by clicking on the link to the left.

Please click on the links to the left for the assignments.

** As a general rule, we do NOT collect classwork assignments until they are due. It allows students to go back over their work and also to use as proof that they did complete it. It's much easier for a parent to check their work if they have it in hand, instead of saying "I turned it in". This of course does not apply to tests, quizzes, and other assessments that we do in class.

** If you have another child who has a password for Parent Connect, you can access your 6th grader's gradebook online.

Free online help from real tutors available every day from 1pm - 10 pm.

You must have a valid Torrance Library card.

Please call the Torrance Public Library Youth Services Department 310-618-5964 for more information or go towww.library.torrnet.com .

***Congratulations if you found your way to our webpage! Mrs. Fischer, our librarian, has been working hard to make the site easier for everyone to find. All homework will be listed on the main page with all of the other teachers.

If you would like to know additional information, including classwork/homework, upcoming tests/quizzes, and the week at a glance, continue to visit our pages.  Our suggestion would be to make your way through the school directory until you click on our webpage. Once there, make our webpage a favorite on your computer.

Parents: Please look over your child's planner daily and sign on Thursday nights. We will check them on Fridays .
